DUI Breathalyzer Installation Process
The interlock installation process starts as soon as you drive your car into the Low Cost Interlock approved service center. One of our experienced technicians will inspect your vehicle’s electrical and mechanical systems before installing the DUI interlock device.
After the inspection, your technician will proceed with installing the breathalyzer car starter. This comprises of two main components, the handset and the relay module.
The handset is the device that you blow into that measures your blood alcohol concentration. We use a proprietary handset that only requires you to submit a 3-second exhale.
No complicated breathing patterns or excessive blowing. This gets you on the road quicker and makes the system overall more sanitary, reducing the number of failed tests by providing a 100 percent accurate reading every single time.
The second component is the relay module, which is the object that allows you to start the car. The relay module connects to the handset via a cord and generally sits out of sight under the dash. This system has the fastest warm-up time on the market, allowing you to provide a breath sample almost immediately, under any weather condition.
At an interlock installation locations, the process should not take more than one or two hours. However, certain higher end vehicles and vehicles with push-start buttons may require longer installation times or more specialized equipment. What to Bring for Your Breathalyzer Car Starter Installation
Aside from the actual vehicle that you need the ignition interlock device installed, make sure that you bring:
- Two valid forms of ID, at least one of which should have your photo
- Proof of residence
- All court documents relevant to your restricted driving privileges and the order to install an ignition interlock system
- Vehicle registration or, if the vehicle does not belong to you, a letter of permission from the registered owner of the vehicle
